New Zealand skin lives with a lot at once. Cold, dry winter air. Heaters running all day. Wind on the coast. Strong UV that can be high in any season. If your skin sometimes feels tight, warm or easily upset, the answer is usually fewer steps done well, not more.
This is a general routine using the Azulene Soother line. It is not advice about a skin condition. If your skin is painful, cracked or does not settle, see your doctor or pharmacist.

Morning: three steps
1. Cleanse gently. Active Cleansing Soother is a foaming everyday cleanser. Use a small amount on damp skin and rinse well. Active Cleansing Soother
2. Tone and hydrate. After cleansing, a toner prepares skin for the next step. Azulene Soother Toner, then the gel for a lighter finish, or the cream if your skin feels tight.
3. Protect from the sun. Finish with a broad-spectrum sun care that meets New Zealand standards. Dr.SANTE does not currently list a sun care product for New Zealand, so choose one you already trust.

Evening: two or three steps
1. Cleanse again. The same cleanser works. If you wore sun care or make-up, cleanse well.
2. Hydrate. The ampoule is the light, serum-style step: smooth it over damp skin and pat in. Azulene Soother Ampoule
3. Moisturise. On cold nights, the cream. SANTE suggests that you can mix a drop of Elsol jojoba oil into the cream for extra moisture. Azulene Soother Cream

Once or twice a week
A sheet mask is a pleasant way to give skin a rest. The Azulene Soother Mask is a bio-cellulose sheet mask, sold as a pack of ten. Azulene Soother Mask
Winter changes
When heating is on, swap the gel for the cream, and add a drop of jojoba oil. In summer or on a humid day, go back to the gel. SANTE even sells a Winter Set with two mists and jojoba oil, built around that idea. Azulene Soother Winter Set
A few habits that help more than any product
- Keep showers warm, not hot.
- Pat skin dry rather than rubbing.
- Introduce one new product at a time, so you know what suits you.
- Patch test on a small area first.
- Chamomile is in the daisy family. If you have a known allergy to daisies, chrysanthemums, mugwort or ragweed, ask your doctor or pharmacist before using it.
When to stop
If a product stings, burns or causes a rash, stop using it and rinse your skin. If it does not settle, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
