What it is

Hyaluronic acid is a moisture-binding ingredient that is widely used in skin care because it holds water on the surface of the skin. Hyalquad Core is the Dr.SANTE series that puts it at the centre of the formula. In the main series colours, Hyalquad Core is aqua.

The line is described as moisture care for skin that feels dry and dehydrated.

What is in it

SANTE names several ingredient systems in this line.

  • TE HA Complex, a blend of eight types of hyaluronic acid
  • Sacran, a plant-derived moisturiser from freshwater algae (Aphanothece sacrum polysaccharide on the pack)
  • NAD+ and resveratrol
  • Ultra-low
  • Low
  • Medium
  • High
Hyalquad Core is built on a “4-Quad” system of hyaluronic acids in four molecular weights (ultra-low, low, medium and high). Molecular weight, drawn in order, not to scale.

Sacran can hold up to about 6,000 times its dry weight in water, according to SANTE’s raw-material data.

The guide also names a “Hyal Octa Complex”. Note that SANTE marks some ingredient descriptions as describing the raw material only, not the finished product.

Where SANTE makes it

Hyalquad Core is made by SANTE Cosmetics in Busan, Korea, the same company that makes the Azulene Soother and Artemisia Aka lines. The brand guide positions it as the line for deep hydration.

Where it is used

  • Serum: Hyalquad Core Ampoule (hyaluronic acids and Aphanothece sacrum polysaccharide), 100 ml
  • Moisturiser: Hyalquad Core Cream (hyaluronic acids and ceramide NP), 200 g, a generous jar suited to salon and daily use

Hyaluronic acid also appears in the Azulene Soother line. The Azulene Soother Ampoule and Cream list “11 types of hyaluronic acid”, and the Gel, Toner, Mask and Lotion list hyaluronic acid or sodium hyaluronate. See Azulene Soother Ampoule, Azulene Soother Cream, Azulene Soother Gel, Azulene Soother Toner, Azulene Soother Mask and Azulene Soother Lotion.

What skin it suits

Hyalquad Core suits skin that feels dry, tight or dehydrated, including skin that is dry from heating, air conditioning or wind. It layers well: ampoule first, then cream.

A simple way to use it

After cleansing and toner, smooth the ampoule along the skin and pat gently until absorbed. Follow with the cream, patting to absorb.

How it fits with the other lines

The three main lines are designed to work as a family. Azulene Soother brings the chamomile base, Artemisia Aka brings a fresh, clear-feeling routine for oilier skin, and Hyalquad Core adds a focused moisture step. Someone with dry cheeks and a shiny forehead, for example, might use the Hyalquad ampoule all over and add the Aka toner only where skin feels oily. Introduce one new product at a time, so you can tell what suits your skin.
